John Brueggemann, professor of sociology and department chair, has been elected to the Saratoga Springs City School District's Board of Education. The race was featured in several local media outlets, including The Times Union, The Saratogian and WAMC.

Jordana Dym, professor of history, offered a graduate short course, Mapping, Text and Travel, and a workshop for undergraduate history majors as a visiting professor at the University of the State of São Paulo - Franca (Brazil) in May. The visit was funded by São Paulo Research Foundation.
